ABS-CBN Wins 19 Dove Awards

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. was proclaimed “Best Television Station” and DZMM was awarded the “Best AM Radio Station” at the 17th Golden Dove Awards.

This is the second time for both stations to be recognized this year, after getting the Best TV and AM Radio Station at The Rotary Club of Manila’s 2007 Journalism Awards. ABS-CBN bagged 29 awards led by Korina Sanchez who received the prestigious Ka Doroy Broadcaster of the Year award.

Named after the Dean of Philippines Journalism the late Teodoro “Ka Doroy” Valencia, the Ka Doroy award is considered the highest honor to be given to journalists in the country. Previous recipients were Tina Monzon-Palma and Angelo Castro Jr.

Para sa mga Kapamilya at naninindigan sa katotohanan

Sa mga nakapanood po ng bagong station plug ng GMA, kanila pong binitawan ang katagang “58 glorious years of television” na isa pong malinaw na kasinungalingan at pambabastos sa kasaysayan ng sining at telebisyon.

Sa mga hindi po nakakaalam, sinimulan ng ABS-CBN ang telebisyon sa Pilipinas noong 1953 kaya po ngayon ay ipinagdiriwang natin ang ikalimamput limang taon ng telebisyon sa ating bansa mula nang itinatag ang ABS-CBN (formerly known as DZAQ TV 3). “AQ” stands for Antonio Quirino, brother of the late President Elpidio Quirino (dating may ari ng ABS-CBN na ipinagbili sa pamilyang Lopez).

Bagamat alam ng nakararami at ito ang nakasulat sa kasaysayan, patuloy na iginigiit ng GMA na sila ay limamput walong taon na sa industriya ng telebisyon.

Ako po ay nananawagan sa pamunuan ng National Historical Institute o NHI na bigyang linaw ang usaping ito. Napakahalaga po ng isyung ito lalo na kung paguusapan ang integridad ng media na syang tagapaghatid ng balita’t inpormasyon (serbisyong totoo).

Hinihiling ko po sa inyong lahat na sana ay patuloy tayong manindigan sa katotohanan at pawang katotohanan lamang. Sa pamunuan ng GMA sa pangunguna ni Atty. Felipe Gozon, alam ko po na napakahalaga sa inyo ng ratings and you aim to be number one.

Pero kung sa pagkamit ng tagumpay ay inyong babaligtarin ang kasaysayan at papaniwalain ninyo ang mga tao sa puro kasinungalingan, ito ay malinaw na pansariling kapakanan ninyo lamang ang mahalaga.

Hindi importante sa inyo kung saan man kayo nagsimula at kung sino man ang bakas na inyong sinundan.

Para sa mga di nakakaalam, ang DZBB (radio arm ng GMA) ang sya ngayong nagdiriwang ng ikalimamput walong taon sa himpapawid. Ang DZBB ay itinatag noong 1950 nang wala pang telebisyon sa Pilipinas. Taong 1953 lamang nang mamalasan ng mga Pilipino na makapanuod ng lokal na istasyon sa telebisyon sa pamamagitan ng ABS (Alto Broadcasting System). Taong 1956 naman ng itatag ng mga Lopez ang CBN (Chronicle Broadcasting Network).

Binili ng mga Lopez ang ABS mula sa mga Quirino. Taong 1967 nang pagsamahin ang dalawang higanteng istasyon sa bansa at mula noon ay nakilala na itong ABS-CBN, “The Philippine’s Largest Network”. A

BS-CBN ang kauna unahang TV broadcast sa buong Asya at sa laki ng impluwensiya nito sumunod na din ang ibang bansa tulad ng Japan nang itatag ang NHK, pangalawa sa pinakamatandang istasyon sa buong Asya.

ABS-CBN din ang kauna unahang tri media sa bansa na pinagsanib pwersa ang lakas ng TV, radyo at pahayagan (ABS-CBN, DZXL, Manila Chronicle).

Sa lakas ng impluwensiya nito, sumunod sa yapak ng ABS-CBN ang Manila Times ng Roces family nang itatag nila ang Associated Broadcasting Company (ABC 5), second oldest TV network sa bansa noong early 60’s.

Taong 1961 lamang ng maisipan ng DZBB na magtayo ng sarili nitong TV network. Noong early 70’s nagsimulang makilala ang channel 7 bilang RBS (Republic Boadcasting System) at noon lamang early 80’s nang simula itong makilala bilang GMA 7 (Greater Manila Area Radio Arts and Television).

Kayo na po ang humusga kung sino ang nagsasabi ng totoo. Ang kasaysayan ay siyang huhubog sa ating pagkatao. Kung walang puno (ABS-CBN), wala ding bungang aanihin (ABC 5, GMA). Manindigan sa katotohanan! Team Kapamilya Tayo!
